Adella (Mae) Birkbeck, 80, of Wadsworth, passed away Monday, January 7, 2013, at Akron General Hospital, following a brief illness.
She was born July 5, 1932, in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to Clair and Mae Virginia (Mauck) Humble. She married Weldon Birkbeck on May 7, 1959 at Trinity Lutheran in Loyal Oak. After 43 years of marriage, He passed away on October 16, 2002. She worked at the Wadsworth City School for many years. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, bowling, making everything look nice and her family. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Loyal Oak.
Mae is survived by her sons, James (Carol) of Wadsworth, Robert (Sylvia) of Simi Valley, California, and John (Denise) of Massillon, 12 grandchildren, and several great-grand children. Brothers, Frank (Maryland) Humble of Wadsworth, Ray (Donna) Humble of Cleveland, Brother-in-Law, Harry Jones, and Sister-in-Law, Helen Humble. She was preceded in death by her parents, devoted husband Weldon, Daughter Carol Jean Gruhl, brothers George, Clair (Ruth) and Camden Humble, and sisters, Anna Lou (Oscar) Buterbaugh and Maria Jones.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Hillcrest Chapel, 9560 Acme Road, Seville, OH, with Rev. Elaina Styblo officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wadsworth, OH. Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association 4500 Rockside Road, Suite 440, Independence, OH 44131. The family wishes to thank all those who gave tender care to Mrs. Birkbeck during her illness.
