Albert C. Otto, 85, of Orrville, died Saturday, December 05, 2009 at the Smithville Western
Care Center following a courageous battle with cancer.
Albert was born March 20, 1924 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Harry A. and Henrietta “Hattie” (Swartz) Otto. He graduated from Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1948 and began working immediately at Hagan Chemicals and Controls in Orrville. He retired as Manufacturing Engineer from Westinghouse in 1987.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Orrville where he served as financial secretary for nearly 50 years. He also served as deacon and on the board of trustees. He served as treasurer of the Orrville Crop Walk for several years and enjoyed reading and working on his computer.
Surviving is his wife, Ruth (LeChot) Otto to whom he was married May 16, 1953. In addition to his wife, Albert will be deeply missed by his children Lynn (David) Viets of Union Bridge, Maryland and David LeChot (Judith) Otto of Akron and grandchildren Heather, Annabelle and Charlie Otto.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Walter, Edgar and Fred.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 721 East Milltown Road, Wooster, or First Presbyterian Church 1830 West Market St, Orrville.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM at the Orrville Presbyterian Church with Pastor John Lufkin officiating.
