Andrea “Sandy” Lee McQuigg
January 31, 1947 - January 5, 2021
Our beautiful wife, mother, and grandmother, Andrea “Sandy”, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. After years of battling pulmonary hypertension, she expressed that she wanted to be “whole, healthy, and healed” - and now she has found that in the arms of her Savior.
Sandy was born on January 31, 1947, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to her parents Ralph and Marguerite {Lober} Frazier. On December 18, 1966, she married the love of her life, Alan “Al” McQuigg, and celebrated 54 years of marriage together this past December. Sandy’s pride and joy was raising her three precious children: her two daughters, Christina (Chad) Sanders, Stacy (Scott) Savage, and her son, Micah (Lina) McQuigg.
Sandy’s greatest joy was to live out her faith in Jesus Christ. She was an active member of the Christian Women’s Club of Mount Vernon in the late ‘70s. She traveled around the state speaking on behalf of the Christians Women’s Club. She also started and served as the head of the Fredericktown branch of Interchurch for 10 years (1988-1998). In all things, her heart was to spread encouragement and the love of Christ. Al and Sandy were founding members of Covenant Church. Even in her later years, though she was suffering herself, she would continually reach out to others to encourage them through Facebook and text.
Sandy loved her family more than life itself. Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her husband, children, and grandchildren - going shopping, taking vacations, and gathering together over the holidays. She made all of her children’s wedding cakes by scratch, and they were delicious!
Sandy’s life was marked by prayer and faith. She was an example of a woman of prayer, believing in full and total healing until she received it in heaven. She had a fierce vitality and was full of life, with a quick, witty mind until the moment we said goodbye.
Sandy is survived by her husband; her children; and her 10 grandchildren (one through marriage); Brevin, Tate, Baylor, and Boston Savage, Alex and Nate Bennett, Jake, Sadie, and Tred Sanders, and Amari McQuigg; her brothers Michael Frazier and Gordon Frazier. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, nephews Levi Frazier and Geoffrey McQuigg, Aunt Berta Sproat, and brother-in-law Stephen McQuigg.
Sandy’s calling hours and celebration of life service will take place Monday, January 11, 2021, at Covenant Church in Mount Vernon (13360 New Delaware Rd. Mount Vernon OH 43050). The calling hours will take place from 1-3 pm, and her celebration of life service will begin at 3 pm, with Pastor Tim Overly officiating.
Masks are required and social distancing will be observed. A live stream of the service will be available on https://www.facebook.com/groups/152422153113527/?ref=share
