Anna Given

Anna Mae {Caldwell} Given, 96, of Ashland, died Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Brethren Care Village.

She was born November 23, 1921 in Caldwell, Ohio to Dewey and Stella {Brown} Caldwell.

Anna graduated from Belle Valley High School in 1939.

She married James Given on August 19, 1940. He passed away previously.

Anna was a homemaker, and then worked at C.E. Ward Company as a seamstress from 1965 until her retirement.  She attended North End Church of Christ in Ashland. Anna was described as a sweet and easy-going lady with a heart of gold. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family, friends, and fellow residents at Mill Run. She was a former member of the Navy Mother’s Club of Ashland County. Anna loved to sew, and made hundreds of cloth teddy bears for the Bear Ministry through her church. She was a Cleveland Indians and NASCAR fan. She was also quite the politician, and fan of debate.

She will be deeply missed by her children Sandra K. DeMart of Lakewood, Ohio, George (Linda) Given of Sullivan, Ohio, Mary Ellen (Michael) Allenbaugh of Clarksville, Tennessee, Fred (Alice) Given of Ashland, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother Harold (Thelma) Caldwell of Mount Vernon, Ohio.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband James, son James H. Given, parents, brother Edwin Caldwell, and sister Evelyn Ruggles.
