Arlene Ruth Dimie, 98 of Ashland passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020 at the Good Shepherd Home.
Arlene was born September 19, 1921 in Ashland To Earl and Martha DeLancy. Growing up, she attended Polk Methodist Church.
She graduated from Polk High School in 1939 and married her husband Karl in May of 1947.
Arlene attended Cardi Beauty School in Columbus, OH. She began her career with the Beauty Center in Mansfield, then at Marie’s Beauty Shop in Ashland. She opened her own shop in 1960, Labelle Beauty Salon in Ashland. Arlene helped to establish the School of Cosmetology at the Ashland County West Holmes JVS and taught classes.
Arlene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served in the Church Choir, Alter Guild and Emma Culler Circle. She enjoyed a good game of Scrabble, bingo and baking pies and cakes every week for the Thursday American Legion bingo games. Although Arlene and Karl had no children of their own, they enjoyed their many generations of nieces and nephews.
She is survived by a sister, Eva Beard, a sister-in-law Sharon Delancy both of Ashland and many nieces and nephews.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers Lewis, Dale, Wendall, Earl Jr. and Sister Betty.
A private committal will be held at Roberts Funeral Home Ashland Chapel for family only. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park.
A memorial service will be planned for a later date at Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center St. with her nephew, Pastor Jeff Scott officiating.
