Arthur J. Poland, 88, of Ashland, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Brethren Care.
Arthur was born February 28, 1928 in Ashland to Floyd and Doris {Finney} Poland.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War.
Arthur owned and operated a SOHIO Service Station in Ashland for a number of years, he then owned a lawn sprinkler system company in New Port Richey, Florida before coming back to Ashland where he retired from Ashland University after 20 years. He was an avid winemaker, loved gardening, woodworking and reading.
Arthur will be deeply missed by his wife Jeannie Davis of 33 years; children Floyd "Chip" (Jane) Poland of Savannah, Sherri Strine of Ashland; step-children Donald Houser of WI, Steven (Vicky) Houser of FL, Diane (Marty) Stets of Mansfield, Pamela Yeager of Mansfield, Kim (Bill) Plues of Ashland; grandchildren Matthew Poland, Courtney (Zach) Ringler, Sonja Crooks, Cari Strine, Tara (Josh) Kemp, Kayla (Brian) Danko, Keaten Howe, Emily Plues, Lynsey Plues, Landon Plues; 6 great-grandchildren: sister Betty Niswander of Mansfield.
Arthur was preceded in death by his brothers Arnold Poland, Archie Poland and sister Audrey Poland, special friend Lonnie Bemiller.
Friends may call Monday, June 13 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, Ashland. Funeral services will be Monday, June 13 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Doug Fitch officiating. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park, where military rites will be held.
