Barbara Ann Mathias, 61, of Daphne, AL, died January 26, 2025, peacefully at home, in Daphne.
Barbara was born December 23, 1963, in Elmhurst, IL to Raymond and Caryl {Gallagani} Wagner.
Barbara graduated from Roosevelt University – Chicago with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
She proudly served in the United States Army Reserves for 15 years and the United States Air Force – Illinois Air National Guard for 4 years. In the US Army Barabra was activated during Desert Storm where she was assigned to the Defense Intelligence Agency at the Pentagon. In the USAF she served in Operation Deny Flight in Italy and France with the 126th Air Refueling Wing as an Intel Analyst.
She married Gary E. Mathias on October 1, 1992.
Barbara worked as a Corporate Tax Manager for many years as well as her own consultancy, Mathias Tax Consultants LP. She also performed numerous hours of volunteer work as a Church Accountant and as a Board Member and Treasurer for the Little Miami Marching Band Boosters.
Barbara found joy in her family, travel, Italian cooking, drawing, cheering for the Chicago Cubs, going to the beach and collecting Snoopy memorabilia.
Barbara will be deeply missed by her husband Gary; children Anna Hannon and Grant Mathias; and sister Raynette Ilg
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be Saturday February 8 at 11 a.m. EST at Roberts Funeral Home-Hillcrest Chapel, Seville with Pastor Michael Newman officiating.
Her internment ceremony will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where military rites will be held Monday February 10th at 1:15 p.m. EST.
