Ben Barton Sr.

August 7, 1950 — December 24, 2018

It is with extreme sadness that the family of Ben Victor Barton Sr, 68, announce his passing on Monday, December 24, 2018 at his residence. He fought a long, hard battle with cancer for a number of years.

Private service will be held at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster . Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. Ben was born August 7, 1950 in Fort Hood, Texas  to Kenneth E.  and Ingrid Karin {Zeisner} Barton and raised by Kenneth and Gladys Barton He was raised by military parents and had fond childhood memories of living at the base of the Alphs.;  and attending  school in Italy and also living in Germany.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in September of 1968 and served in Vietnam.   Ben retired in 1988 after 20 years of Military service.  During his time in the service he had the opportunity to travel the world.

After military retirement he went on to work in the IT department for Barnett Bank now Bank of America in Jacksonville, FL.  He later moved with his wife Nancy to Wooster.  Ben began working for Buehler’s Loss Prevention until 2001.

Ben enjoyed fishing, cooking, listening to music, and watching OSU football games and Shiners.

Ben is survived by Nancy K. Dyke Smith, his loving wife of 33 years; two children Tessa K. and Victor Barton both from Mobile, AL; ex-wife Shannon Barton; brother William (Debra) Dyke; brother-in-law Russell (Sharon) Dean of St Augustine, FL; step-brother Randy (Debora) Barton of Tucson, AZ; a half- brother and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ben was proceeded in death by his father Kenneth Barton, mother Ingrid Barton, step-mother Gladys Barton, and mother-in-law Bonna Dyke.

The family would like to thank Dr Isckarus, Dr Zackory, Dr. Robert Cebul, Lisa Prebish, FNP and staff at LifeCare Hospice for all their care.
