Bessie Grace Hawkins, 80, of Wooster, died Friday, November 4, 2016 at Smithville-Western Care Center.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, November 10 at 6pm at the Apple Creek Methodist Church. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. Memorial contributions may be made to LifeCare Hospice at 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
Bessie was born November 1, 1936 in Unicoi, Tennessee to William K. and Myrtle {Moore} Tipton.
After graduating high school she went on to become an L.P.N.
She married Ray B. Hawkins on December 18, 1954. He passed away on August 16, 2013.
Bessie retired from Apple Creek Development Hospital and after she continued to work at local nursing homes. She attended the Apple Creek United Methodist. Bessie enjoyed collecting dolls and listening to music. While at West View Healthy Living, she was very active with the church and craft clubs.
Bessie will be deeply missed by her children Phillip (Anita) Hawkins of Apple Creek; grandchildren Kristy (John) Hershberger of Wooster, Dereck VonAllman of Newark, Curtis VonAllman of Dover, Dieter VonAllman of Coshocton, Matthew VonAllman of Emerald Isle, Brett (Jordan) Hawkins of Dublin, Brandon Hawkins of Ada; great-grandchildren Jewels Hershberger of Wooster; seventeen brothers and sisters.
Bessie was preceded in death by her husband and daughter Cindi Hawkins.
