Betty R. Doty, 95, of Wooster, died Friday, November 22, 2019 at West View Healthy Living, in Wooster.
Betty was born November 21, 1924 in Scio, OH to Laird J. and Ruth D. {Stewart} Wile.
She graduated from Wooster High School in 1942 and organized the class reunions throughout the years. Betty married David Doty on June 3, 1945. He died in 2006.
She worked at the Wooster High School library, then for the College of Wooster at the information desk, retiring in 1987. While at the college, Betty and David welcomed many students into their home for holidays and many meals. Betty was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir for 75 years and taught Sunday School for many years. She also was a member of the Gnat Boxers Square Dance Club and the Four Seasons Flower Club. Betty enjoyed working with her flowers and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
Betty will be deeply missed by her children Barbara (Bill) Buchwalter, Ted (Gloria) Doty, and Amy (Steve) Williamson all of Wooster and David (Blanche) Doty II of Pawpaw, MI; grandchildren Dr. Cheryl (Gary Snodgrass) Buchwalter, Carrie (Keith) Rule, Christina (Ed) Pitman, Chad (Diana) Buchwalter, Lori (Curt) Smith, Angie (Greg) Carpenter, Jennie (T.R.) Hileman, Ashley Doty, James David Doty; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandson.
Betty was preceded in death by husband, David, brothers Larry Wile and Bill Wile.
A memorial service will take place December 21 at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Shari Ayers officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster. Roberts Funeral Home – Sherwood Chapel, Wooster is assisting with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, c/o music program, 301 N.
