Betty Fites

Betty June Fites, of Wooster, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the age of 90.

She was born June 23, 1927, to Hazel and Arthur Middaugh of Holmesville.

A graduate of Chester High School, Betty’s first job was hand painting wooden toys at the Toy Craft Company in Wooster.  She married her husband of forty-five years, Howard H. Fites on his return from WWII in 1946.  He preceded her in death in 1992.

Betty was an excellent cook, and enjoyed gardening, sewing and attending rummage sales. Her interests were her family, fashion, style, decorating and shoes!

As an empty nester she worked at the Bell and Howell Corporation, becoming an excelling as a micro film camera operator.

Betty will be deeply missed by her daughters, Dianna (Leo) Fox of Dexter, MI, and Cheryl (Gary) Badger of Wooster; grandchildren Suzanne Reinhardt, Howard Warnes, and Angeline (Rafael) Fox Maniglia; a sister Donna (Fred) Everhart, of AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by siblings Gladys Kinsey, Virgil Middaugh, Helen Michael, Melvin Middaugh, Herbert Middaugh, Ila Tracy and Freda Hootman.

As a widow she enjoyed the companionship of a life-long friend, Edwin Hootman, who preceded her in death.

Friends may call Sunday, March 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster.  Funeral services will be Monday, March 5, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. J Alexander officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
