Carl Howard Getz, 85, of Ashland, Ohio went to be with His Lord Friday Nov. 23, 2012 at Kingston of Ashland Nursing Facility, following a long illness.
Friends may call Monday Nov. 26, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, Ashland. Funeral services will be held Tuesday Nov. 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Norm Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park, where military rites will be presented by the Ashland County Veterans Honor Guard. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. Carl was born November 14, 1927 in Massillon, Ohio to Carl George and Mary Ester {Finley} Getz.
Carl served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII.
He married Norma June Tucker on April 4th, 1951.
Carl was employed by Abbott Laboratories retiring after 17 years of service. He was a member of Grace Brethren Church, and the American Legion Post 88. Carl was an avid golfer, and played in various softball and bowling leagues. He was a huge fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, Indians, and the Cavaliers. Carl passed on his love of sports to his grandchildren.
Carl will be deeply missed by his wife Norma of 60 years.

; Grandchildren Ben, David, Evan, Dawn, Nathan, Aaron, and Travis.
; Great-grandchildren Ethan, Kaia and Skyla.
; Brother James Getz of Ashland, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother William and a sister Erma Wolleson.
