Carl Hochstetler

Carl D. Hochstetler, 79, of Wooster, died May 12, 2019 at The Avenue at Wooster.

Private services will be held at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Carl was born October 26, 1939 in West Salem, Ohio to Myron O. and Laura {Imhoff} Hochstetler.

He graduated from Northwestern High School.

He married Louise Horst on April 17, 1965.

Carl was a mechanic in his earlier years and an independent truck driver for decades. His passion for truck driving allowed him and his wife to see many sights. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, loved playing Yahtzee and driving the nurses crazy at the nursing home. Carl enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles.

Carl will be deeply missed by his wife of 54 years; his children Rita (Tim) Varner of Wooster, Paula (Tim McClanahan) Rooker of Wooster; grandchildren Maxine Louise Varner, Nicholas Carl Rooker, Zella Elizabeth Rooker; brother Roy (Kathy) Hochstetler; sisters Lois Clark, Wilma (Ken) Welch, Marilyn Cox.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws Vernon and Ardith Horst.
