Cecil Miller

Cecil A. Miller, 90, passed away October 6, 2020 after a short illness, at Knox Community Hospital. He was born on December 15, 1929 in Brandon Ohio. He was the son of the late Paul and Emma (Riley) Miller of Brandon Ohio. He was a member of the Shepherd’s Chapel Church in Gravette, Arkansas.

Cecil married the love of his life Ellen L. (Romine) Miller on May 7, 1954 in Homer Ohio. They later moved to Fredericktown, Ohio where they raised their three children.

Surviving are his wife Ellen L. (Romine) Miller of 66 years and their 3 children; Michael C. Miller of Mansfield, Lorraine E. (Kenneth) Wicker of Fredericktown and Ronald P. Miller of Fredericktown.

Cecil leaves behind 6 grandchildren; James Miller, Sabrina Wicker, Christina (Curt) Connnell, Heather Link, Emilee Miller and Andrew Miller and 6 great-grandchildren; Sydney Brumley, Dylan Miller, Jaxson Connell, Alexandria Link, Gabriella Miller, and Drew Wicker.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Emma Miller and a sister, Betty Zirkle.

Cecil was a United States Army veteran during the Korean War Conflict serving in General Eisenhower’s seventh Army. He was a member of The American Legion Joe Cocanour Post 500 in Fredericktown, where he participated with the honor guard, and fixed eggs for the pancake breakfast. Cecil participated many other community events with the American Legion throughout the years.

In his early years, Cecil was employed with Cooper Energy Services in Mount Vernon, Ohio.  While with Coopers, he worked in Monterrey, Mexico and Mexico City as an instructor on building Cooper engines. He later was employed with Gorman Rupp Pumps in Mansfield, Ohio for 23 years as a tool setter for computerized machines, from where he retired.

A graveside service will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens on Friday October 9, where military rites will be held.
