Celista Jane Hard, 99, of Ashland, died Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Kingston Nursing Home.
Celista was born September 13, 1914 in Ashland to Allen and Jessie Stauffer.
She graduated from Ashland High School, and continued on to Ashland College, The Ohio State University and the University of Chicago to obtain her teaching degrees.
She married Raymond E. Hard in June of 1945. He died in 1983.
Celista worked as a kindergarten teacher at Montgomery Elementary for over 40 years. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Celista was an Auxillary Member at the American Legion Post #88. She loved to garden, take care of her flowerbeds and play the piano. Celista was known by all to be a kind and hospitable woman.
Celista will be deeply missed by grandchildren Ange Erickson; great-grandchildren Skye (Jeremy) Whytsell and Owen Howman; nieces and nephew Brenda Martz, Ardis Tellefson and Roger McQuate.
Celista was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, of 37 years, son Rex Hard, sisters Opal McQuate, Dorothy Ritz and Betty Cox.
Roberts Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park.
