Charles R. Blough, 94, of Orrville, died Saturday, November 07, 2015 at Affinity Medical Center, in Massillon.
Friends may call Thursday, November 12, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held. In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to Kidron Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. box 155 Kidron, OH 44636.
Charles was born March 7, 1921 in Rittman to Ernie and Ethel {Skelley} Blough and he was raised by his grandparents Charles and Icey Gray.
He graduated from Smithville High School. Charles served in the Army Air Corps during World War II from 1942 to 1946.
He married Hazel Marie Nussbaum on April 7, 1974.
Charles spent many years in the service station business in Orrville. In 1973 he began work for the post office until 1992 when he retired. Charles played Orrville's Santa for over 60 years. He collected WWII model planes and loved listening to big band music. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Orrville but not in recent years due to declining health.
Charlie will be deeply missed by; son Craig (Carol) Blough of Seminole Florida; Step-daughters Sue (Howard) Snavely of Marshallville and Barbara (Ev) Hofstetter of Apple Creek; granddaughter Christine Blough; great-granddaughter Ashley Mooney; 6 step-grandchildren and 15 great-step-grandchildren.
Charlie was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years.
