Charles Vernon Gilmore

Rev. Charles Vernon Gilmore, 89, of Ashland, died February 23, 2025 at his residence.

Vernon was born February 19, 1936 in Clarington, Ohio to Vernon Reece and Eva Mae {Saffle} Gilmore.

He graduated from Clarington High School in 1954. 

He married Velma Mae Keener on June 2, 1956. 

Vernon retired from National Latex Products in 1998. He was a member and founder of the Ashland Full Gospel around the year 1970. He was a member of the Sullivan Christian Church and spent 12 years at numerous other churches. Vernon was most recently a member of Church of God Ashland Worship Center.

Vernon will be deeply missed by his wife Velma; children Brenda Ebner of Canton, Ohio, Peggy Thompson of Fairborn, Ohio, Douglas Gilmore of Ashland, Ohio, Mark (Laura) Gilmore of Ashland, Ohio; grandchildren Melanie Bowman, Jacob Ebner, Lucas Thompson, John Ebner, Anna Randall, Samuel Ebner, Courtney Saner, Sydney Ellis; great-grandchildren Michael Thompson, Zayne Ebner, Noah Fields, David Ebner, Shepard Saner; brother Robert “Bob” (Karla) and sisters Ada McPeek and Debbie Artrip.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, brother Walter Gilmore and sisters Judy Gilmore and Janet Case; brother-in-law Scott McPeek and sons-in-law David Ebner and Robert Thompson.

Friends may visit Thursday February 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. (and livestreamed at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com/obituaries/Charles-Gilmore) with Pastor Daniel Stratford officiating.
