Charles E. Lee, "Chuck", 87, of Smithville, died June 23, 2016 at Wooster Community Hospital.
Funeral Services will be June 30, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster with Dr. Carolyn Berry and Dr. David Oliver officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Smithville United Methodist Church PO Box 375, Smithville, Ohio 44677.
Charles was born October 13, 1928 in Buckhannon, West Virginia to Lanta and Madeline {Dietsch} Lee.
Charles proudly served in the United States Army in Alaska during the Korean War.
He eloped to marry Thelma Klee in San Francisco, California on June 20, 1952. She passed away on June 7, 2014.
Charles worked at Babcock and Wilcox for 22 years. Following his retirement, he loved working for Green Thumb Floral for 25 years. He was a member of the Smithville United Methodist Church for over 40 years where he was active in many ministries and a former member of the Smithville Ruritans. Charles enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Charles will be deeply missed by his daughters Nancy (Jeffrey) Kauffman of Wooster and Kathy (Hugo) Sandberg of Hudson; grandchildren Jennifer (Ryan) Kline, Melissa (Ben) Rehm, Isaac (fiancé Alison Dyer), Abby and Ellie Kauffman, Anna (Scott) Douglas, Aaron and Molly Sandberg; Great-grandchildren Lena and Zeke Kline, Kendra Rehm and Baby Rehm to arrive in August; brother Hubert (Rosemary) Lee of Amherst; sisters Betty Bailey of French Creek, WV, and Shirley Wyatt of Wooster, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife, Thelma, of 61 years, sister Marjorie Anderson McHugh, and two infant brothers.
