Charles S. “Chuck” Houmard, 98, of Wooster, died Thursday, November 2, 2017 at LifeCare Hospice.
Friends may call Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Wayne Presbyterian Church. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Bob Meyer officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. Chuck was born January 30, 1919 in Orrville, Ohio to Samuel and Esther {Bushey} Houmard.
Chuck graduated from Smithville High School in 1938. He served in the US Army during WWII.
He married Mary Maxine Saunier on February 10, 1940. She passed away in 2001. He then married Jessie {Firebaugh} Taylor in 2002.
Chuck worked for Ideal Dairy and then retired from the Wooster Brush Company. After his retirement he drove cars for various garages around town. He was a member of Wayne Presbyterian Church. Chuck enjoyed going to the beach, reading and playing cards. He loved spending time with all of his grandchildren.
Chuck will be deeply missed by his wife of 15 years; children Charles Eugene (Linda) Houmard of Wooster, Linda Joyce (Tom) Guthrie of Orrville, Samuel Lee (Mary) Houmard of Ft. Wayne, Christine Ann (David) Hofacker of Orrville, Robert (Vickie) Taylor of Ashland, and Gale (Dave) Greegor of Apple Creek; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren.
Chuck was preceded in death by his sisters Mabel, Margery, Dorothy, Hazel and Verna.
