Chester “Butch” Mumaw Jr., 79, of Ashland, died Saturday, February 22, 2020 at his residence.
Chester was born July 22, 1940 in Ashland to Chester Lawerence Sr. and Della May {Dague} Mumaw.
He served in the U.S. Army for three years.
He married Beverly M. Ritchey on September 7, 1963. She passed away on December 17, 1990.
Chester retired from the State Highway Department of Transportation as a mechanic. He was a member of Garber Brethren Church in Ashland. Chester was involved in a Model Railroading Club and CB Radio Club, during this time he raced speed boats. He enjoyed roller skating and music.
Chester will be deeply missed by his children Cindy (Tim) Hoffman of Ashland and Timothy Mumaw of Columbus, GA; grandchildren T.J., Desirae, and Tyler Hoffman, Amber (Lance) Day and Alyssa Mumaw; great-grandchildren Jocelynn Hoffman, Luke and Ellie Kate Day; brother George; sister Geraldine, Helen, Pauline, and Betty.
Chester was preceded in death by his four siblings.
Friends may call Friday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel. Services will be Friday at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Drew Meziere officiating.
