Clara V. Bertschy, 88, former West Salem resident, of Ashland, died October 2, 2013 at Hospice House, in Ashland.
Clara was born May 5, 1925 in Sardis, Ohio to Daniel and Mollie {Hendershot} Stewart.
She married Clarence Bertschy on November 13, 1946. He died in July 15, 1999.
She had been a 4-H leader, Girl Scout leader, and helped get the first Kindergarten started in West Salem. Clara was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing and creating quilt tops.
Clara will be deeply missed by her children Marlene {Ronnie} Miller of West Salem and Mary Ann {Ron} Dull of Ashland; grandchildren Sherry Miller, Rhonda (Scott) Bodager, and Kayla (Derek) Conway; eight great-grandchildren.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, her parents, and brothers and sisters.
Upon her request, private services were held at Roberts Funeral Home -Ashland Chapel. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie, Larry, & Derek Miller, Scott & Tyler Bodager, Ron Dull, and Derek Conway. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.
