Clarence E. Henthorn, 92, of Wadsworth, died Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Wadsworth Rittman Hospital, in Wadsworth.
Clarence was born March 28, 1921 in Woodsfield, Ohio to Everett and Susie {Shook} Henthorn.
Clarence worked with the Ohio Match Company as a mechanic and retired in 1985 after 40 years of service. Clarence was a proud veteran of WWII where he served in the US Army, Company "A", 2828th Combat Engineer Battalion. He received 2 Purple Hearts, good conduct medal, and European African Middle Eastern service ribbon with Arrowhead.
Clarence married Anna Lee Banfield on October 16, 1948.
Clarence will be deeply missed by his wife; sons Glen (Julie) Henthorn of Rittman, Mark (Ronnie) Henthorn of Wadsworth, Gary Henthorn of Wadsworth, daughters LuAnn (Delmer) Holcomb of Wadsworth and Beverly (Keith) Matty of Wadsworth; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers Charles (Barbara) Henthorn and Harry (Jan) Henthorn; sister Wanda Blackstone.
Clarence was preceded in death by his sisters Mildred Pittman and Ruth Palmer, brothers Lawrence and Everett.
Friends may call Saturday from 10 to 12 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Hillcrest Chapel, Seville. Funeral services will be Saturday at 12 at the funeral home with Pastor Lance Porubsky officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held.
