Clyde Samuel Benner, 82, of Ashland, died suddenly on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Crystal Care Nursing and Rehab, in Mansfield.
Clyde was born March 3, 1938 in Ashland to Lawrence and Jennie Mae {Keener} Benner.
He attended Savannah School, and then joined the Army.
He was married to Lois Maxine Thomas for over 35 years.
Clyde worked as a body man and mechanic for many years. He was a member of Maple Grove Church of the Brethren. He was in the Ford Car Club (F.A.S.T.), loved restoring cars, and woodworking, but always put family first.
Clyde will be deeply missed by his children Clyde Jr. (Lynda) Benner, Brenda Lemon of Florida, and Kathy (Roger) Shoenberger; grandchildren Tabitha (Rhonda), Tonya, Curtis (Kristi), and Samantha; step grand-daughter Amy; great-grandchildren Lux and Myles; brothers Glenn (Pauline), and Kenny (Sally); sister Ruth (Paul); and many niece, nephews, and cousins.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, brothers Raymond, George, Charles, David and Earl; sisters Clara and Rachel,; and son-in-law Scott Lemon.
Friends may call Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Keib officiating.
