Dale Adam Schmid

Dale Adam Schmid, 96, was born on 3/21/1927 in Big Prairie, OH to John and Ruth (Kerr) Schmid. He died on 4/27/2023 in Wooster, OH.

He was extremely proud of having served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He was ecstatic to find his high school sweetheart, Betty Jean Hostettler, waiting for him on his return to the states. They married on 6/12/1949 and had four children. Betty died on 2/11/1990. Dale was then fortunate to marry Martha Shane on 7/28/1992. Martha died on 8/13/2020.

Dale retired from Nickles Bakery after 36 years of faithful employment. He was a long-time member of Bigelow United Methodist Church. Dale enjoyed refereeing high school basketball, attending the state high school basketball tournaments, bowling and playing cards.

He is survived by children, Greg Schmid, Lynn (Tom) Ransbottom, Joan Schmid, Kevin (Lori) Schmid, stepchildren, Connie (Rod) Rush, Kitty (Sam) Patterson, sister, Joan Croop, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, 4 step-grandchildren, and 4 step-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Danbury-Wooster and LifeCare Hospice for their care in his final years.

Friends may call from 1:00-2:00 pm on May, 5^th, 2023 at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster, OH. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare 1900 Akron Rd. Wooster, OH 44691.
