Daniel L. Helmick, 80, of Mount Dora, Florida, died Sunday, March 13, 2016 at his residence.
At the family's request, there will be no services or calling hours held. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Hospice at 2445 Lane Park Rd. Tavares, FL 32778.
Daniel was born November 11, 1935 in Dover to Joseph Helmick and Mary (Fred) {Myer} Hall.
Daniel graduated from New Philadelphia High School and attended Mount Union College.
He married Margaret Cugliari on July 4, 1956.
Daniel worked as an electrical engineer for the Siemens Corporation for more than 20 years before retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Mason's in New Philadelphia. Daniel was an avid golfer and a member of the Country Club of Mount Dora.
Daniel will be deeply missed by his wife; children Greg (Jill) Helmick of Silver Lake, Lori (Gary) Jones of Wooster, Michele (Bill) Yurcich of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren Bryan (Maria-Paula) Jones, Christopher (Megan Morrison) Jones, Daniel and Jillian Helmick; great-grandson Mateo Jones; half-sister Jo-Lynn Smith and half-brother Jack Helmick, both of Bristolville, OH.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents.
