David William Benner, 80, of Ashland, passed away, Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at The Good Shepherd Nursing Home surrounded by family and friends.
David was born January 10, 1934 in Ashland County to William Lawrence and Jeannie Mae {Keener} Benner.
He graduated from Ashland High School in 1952.
He married Gloria Joan Harrison on July 8, 1954. She survives.
David started working at Ashland Rubber and retired from Ford Motor Company in Lorain after 30 years of service. He was a farmer all his life, starting out on his parents farm, until he purchased his own farm. He owned dairy and beef cattle before turning to crops in his later years.
David will be deeply missed by his wife, Gloria, of 60 years; daughters Tamie Haupricht of Nova and Cindy Benner of Ashland; grandchildren David M. Baldauf and Jessica L. Baldauf; great-grandchildren Jacob A. Lesco and Alexa J. Keck; brothers Earl Benner of Apache Jct. AZ, Glenn, Clyde and Kenny Benner all of Ashland; sisters Rachel (James) Tucker of Nova and Ruth (Paul) Bright of Ashland; lifelong friend and family Roger D. (Joanne) Shopbell.
David was preceded in death by his son David Mark Benner in 1955; daughter Debra June Cowen in 2004; brothers Raymond L., George E., and Charles A. Benner; sister Clara M. Bright.
Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, Ashland. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev.
