Deanna Lynn West

Deanna Lynn West, 65, of Howard, OH, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025, with her loving family at her home in Howard. Deanna was born November 6, 1959, in Portsmouth, OH to Robert and Charlotte M.{Bradley} Bowling. She married Michael E. West on February 19th, 1983 who passed away just three days after their 40th Anniversary. 

She was a homemaker and ran a crafting business as well as sewing for people and helping some families in their homes. While she worked outside from time to time, her passion was helping others. She loved to volunteer for the church in Homer and was selfless in helping at community functions. She was a care giver at times for several families. She also cared for several extended family members who would even call her a second mom. Later she was a devoted member of Church on the Rise and continued to volunteer in many ways. She helped in nursing homes and the food pantry at the church. She was very creative her whole life while always thinking she could not do much, but actually she had very creative ideas that often turned out perfect for the situation. She was an excellent cook and baker and took food to people everywhere. Even when sick, she didn’t want people to pity her since that would prevent her helping them. Those in the community commented that she was a maternal figure in their lives. She loved the Armor of God in Ephesians. Each of these activities was always blended with preaching or gospel music in the background, surrounded by love and by faith. People from all over loved her and were grateful for her love in their lives. “If you’re having a bad day and things seem bad, go be a blessing to someone!”

Deanna will be deeply missed by her children Shonna T. West, Clint R. (Bridget) West, Justin S. West, Brittney M. West; grandchildren Brock, Felicity, Haley, Roger, Aubrey, Tyler, Summer and her great-grandchildren Laney, Serenity, Annaliese and her brother Robert (Lori Gahn) Bowling. Deanna was preceded in death by her husband, parents her sister Cheryl (Norman) Gahn, brother Roger bowling and grandchild Tia

A graveside service will be held on January 18, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Homer Cemetery, 1450 Homer Rd N.W., Utica, OH 43080. A Celebration of life will follow with a meal at “The Barn,” 3085 Lookers Ln, Utica, OH 43080. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.
