Donald "Davy" De Davenport, 84, of Wooster, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Hospice of Medina County.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 11 A.M. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Friends may call one hour prior to the service Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 10 to 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held. Donald was born February 18, 1929 in Wooster, Ohio to Clark Seymour and Minnie Marie {Schoonover} Davenport.
The only time he was away from Wooster for any extensive time was when Donald served in the United States Army and served in combat during the Korean War and after being honorably discharged in 1952; he returned to Wooster. Donald had been a member of the American legion and the Elks. He enjoyed golfing, mushroom hunting and cooking. Donald liked going for long drives and traveling to Florida to visit his family. He loved his children and grandchildren especially his family gatherings.
Donald was a bricklayer for 42 years and worked for The Freeman Construction Company of Wooster for most of the years.
He will be deeply missed by his children Douglas (Linda) of Massillon, Deborah (Rick) Phillips of Wooster, Diane Holmes of Wooster and Danny (Kathy) of Wooster, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, sisters Dorothy Sperry of Stuart, Fla. and Doris Balloon of Wooster.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, brother's-in-law Ted Sperry and Bill Balloon.
