Donald B. Kitts Sr., 76, of Ashland, passed from this life on Friday, November 25, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Donald was born August 1, 1940 in Ashland, Ohio to Doras and Grace {Jones} Kitts.
Don was an Ashland High School graduate of 1956. He served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1961 on the Minesweeper, U.S.S Pinnacle based out of Charleston, S.C. Don served two deployments in the Mediterranean Sea in Beirut, Lebanon, during the Lebanon Crisis.
He married his high school sweetheart Esther E. Light on April 4, 1959.
Don worked for General Motors, CPC Mansfield Plant where he retired after 31 years. He was a long time member of the Am Vets. After retirement, he enjoyed farming, fishing at Lake Erie with his buddies, and especially spending time with his family.
Donald will be deeply missed by his wife Esther; children Don (Brenda) Kitts Jr. of New London, Terry (Judi) Kitts of Ashland, Tim (Sherry) Kitts of Ashland, ; grandchildren Adam, Nicky, Casey, Alex (Jillian), Josh (Holly), Wil, and Thomas; great-granddaughter Ellie; brother Danny (Connie) Kitts of Ravenna; and sister Bonnie Roesel of Ashland.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ronnie and John Kitts.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, Ashland. Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Jeff Messner officiating. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park, where military rites will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio at 1050 Dauch Dr, Ashland, OH 44805.
