Donald Sloan

Donald Dale Sloan, 84, of Ashland, died Saturday January 31, 2015 at Brethren Care Nursing Center.
Donald was born April 17, 1930 in Ashland, Ohio, the last of 13 children to John Elmer and Cora Adeleine {Burdick} Sloan.
He served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
He married Donna Jean {Howman} on May 7, 1949.
Donald worked for Archway Cookies and Hydromatic. He was a member of the First Church of the Brethren. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion. He loved to walk at the YMCA with his friends first thing in the morning, and enjoyed watching airplanes. He donated over 9.5 gallons of Blood to the Red Cross.
Donald will be deeply missed by children Douglas (Lorie) of Ashland, Daniel (Carol) of Loudonville, and Dennis (Lori Myers) Sloan of Ashland; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, 8 brothers and 4 sisters.
Friends may call Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, Ashland. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Abel officiating. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park.
