Doris Leona Hencke

Doris Leona Hencke, 87, of Wooster, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 16, 2023, at West View Healthy Living in Wooster.

Doris was born April 17, 1935, in Gap Creek, TN to Roy and Edna {Street} Whitehead.

She married the love of her life Leonard Hencke on July 12, 1958. He passed away in 2017. Doris retired as an LPN from Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna after 27 years of service.

Doris was a member of West Hill Baptist Church. She loved to host parties, cook, and bake for family and friends. Doris and Leonard helped with Vacation Bible School and taught Sunday School when they lived in Tennessee. Doris loved to sing and spent many years in the church choir. She cared for many of her family members throughout her life.

Doris will be deeply missed by her children Debora (Dennis) Kovach of Wooster and Fred (Kim) Hencke of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren Frank Kovach and Jared (Katie) Kovach, Sarah Hencke and her fiancé David Blatnik; a brother Danny Whitehead and sister Joyce (Ken) Petti.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, sisters Ruth (Mac) Ruston, Betty (Lenard) Cable, Alma (Earl) Taylor, a brother Dennis Whitehead, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday from 1 to 2 pm at the West View Healthy Living Chapel. Services will follow at 2 pm with Pastors Kirk and Eric Fairhurst officiating.  Burial will be at the Wooster Cemetery.
