Dorothy Geitgey

Dorothy Lee {Simons} Geitgey, 79, of Rittman, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 12, 2018.

Dorothy was born May 14, 1938 in New Bern, North Carolina to Alonza Richard and Roberta May {Banks} Simons. She attended New Bern High School. She remained in New Bern until meeting Gary Geitgey, who was in her hometown on an extended port visit with the Navy. She was happily married to Gary since December 24, 1953.

Dorothy loved spending time with her children. She was a den mother for Cub Scouts, a babysitter for many children, and worked at the Orrville Hospital. She loved painting, drawing, reading, music, movies, her goldfish pond, and her mini poodle “Sugar”

Dorothy will be deeply missed by her husband; children Kimber Geitgey of Rittman, and Richard Geitgey of West Salem; grandchildren Bambi (Mike) Bowser, and Jade (James) Fisher; great-grandchildren Brian, Isabelle, Monica, and Vincent; brothers Robert and Richard Simons

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, and her son Gary “Butch” Geitgey Jr.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 5:00 p.m.at Roberts Funeral Home Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Jerry Butcher officiating.  Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.   Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association 408 Ninth Street SW Canton, Ohio 44707 .
