Dorothy Iola Wertz, 87, of Wooster, died Saturday, October 26, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Memorial services will be Wednesday at 2 P.M. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Burial will be at Apple Creek Cemetery, in Apple Creek, OH. Dorothy was born April 14, 1926 in Moreland, OH to John and Grace {Miller} Fath.
She married Howard Clayton Wertz on February 26, 1949. He passed away February 13, 2008.
Dorothy worked in the deli at Young's IGA. She also worked as a hostess at Kaffee Haus. Dorothy belonged to the First Church of God. She enjoyed camping, gambling and bird watching. Dorothy liked doing cross-word puzzles and baking.
Dorothy will be deeply missed by her children David (Lola) Wertz of Orrville, Deb (Dave) Rowland and Lisa Birkes both of Wooster; grandchildren Curt (Maria) and Jenelle Rowland, Veronica (Terry) Hutchinson, George, Charlie (Tracie) Schar and Steven (Nicole) Schar, Robert (Gretchen) Birkes, Barbara (Adam) Firebaugh, Chad (Erin) Birkes; great-grandchildren Audrey, Catherine, Jacob Birkes, Sophia and Allie Firebaugh, Tayler Rowland, step-brother Kenneth Stull of Smithville.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Howard, son James and son-in-law Jerry Birkes, brothers Charles, John, and Glenn, sisters Nellie, Marge and Vi.
