Duane E. Kreider, 88, of Wadsworth, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday April 6, 2016 at Barberton Hospital.
Duane was born October 11, 1927 in Wadsworth, Ohio to Homer and Francis {Eby} Kreider.
He was a 1945 graduate of WHS. Duane served with the 88th Division in Italy before being discharged in March of 1947.
He married Gloria Friedt on December 2, 1951.
Duane was a retired Vice President of the Huntington Bank Corporation, and served on the Huntington advisory Board for Medina, Summit and Portage counties. He was elected chairman of the board of trustees of AAA-Ohio Auto Club in 1989. Duane was a past president of the Wadsworth Lions Club and Wadsworth School Board. He served 22 years as chairman of the Wadsworth Civil Service Commision, and was an active member of the American Legion and VFW.
Duane will be deeply missed by his wife of 64 years; sons Jeffery (Terri) Kreider of Wadsworth and Gregory (Jan) Kreider of Seville; grandchildren Megan, Jason, Lauren, Scott and Samantha; great-grandchildren Gavin, Scarlett and Jayce.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where military rites will be held.
