Elinor Bancel Hancock, 95, of Wooster, died Wednesday, August 06, 2014 at Smithville Western Care Center.

Elinor was born February 15, 1919 in Nutley, New Jersey to Paul A. and Etta {Schrock} Bancel.
She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Wellesley College in 1940.
She married Richard N. Hancock on September 15, 1945. They lived in Basking Ridge, New Jersey from 1950 to 1988, when they then moved to Wooster.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, music, gardening, and playing bridge with friends. She and her husband were members of the First Presbyterian Church in Wooster. She taught Sunday school at the Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church, when they lived in New Jersey. Among her many volunteer activities, she especially enjoyed tutoring international people studying English.
Elinor will be deeply missed by daughters Martha Hancock of Wooster, Jane H. Hancock (Gerald Stahl) of Minneapolis, MN, Elizabeth H. McNally of Ann Arbor MI; and grandson, Richard H. Archer (Elizabeth Jorgensen).
Elinor was preceded in death by her husband Richard, of 58 years; and brothers, Paul Bancel and David A. Bancel.
