Ellen Louise Hensel

Ellen Louise Hensel, 83, of New Matamoras, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

Ellen was born July 16, 1941 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Sarah Janeda.

She was a 1959 graduate of River High School. 

She married Walter Hensel on January 1, 2000. 

Ellen retired from the New Matamoras Public Library. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Church. Ellen enjoyed gardening, crocheting, canning and spending time with her family. She loved her special dates with her grandson Michael.

Ellen will be deeply missed by her children Janeda (Ken) Kretzinger, Dwayne (Marilyn) Johnson, Jimmy (Heather) Johnson; grandchildren Trey (Jennifer) Kretzinger, Alyson (Jordan) Indermuhle, Brooke (Dylan George) Johnson, and Michael Johnson; step-grandchildren Melissa Wise and Dewey Wise; great grandchildren William and Harper Kretzinger, and Amelia Indermuhle

In addition to her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by her husband Walt Hensel; son Edward Hensel and her eight brothers and sisters.

The family would like to send a special “thank you” to Dr. Kelli Cawley and nurses and staff at the Strecker Cancer Center.

Friends may call Friday, August 9th from 5 to 8 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-East Lawn Chapel, 27880 St. Rt. 7 Marietta. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Stewart and grandson Trey Kretzinger officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park.
