Ercel J. Swindaman, of Ashland, passed away Thursday, May 09, 2013. She was born June 7, 1924 in Polk, Ohio, to Kent E. and Lela (Smith) Welch. She was a graduate of Polk High School in 1942. Ercel served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On January 3, 1953 she married Dick Eugene Swindaman, who preceded her in death. She was a previous employee of Faultless Rubber Company and Hydromatic Pump. She also filled in as a legal secretary in Ashland. Ercel was a member of the Nankin Federated Church. She is survived by one sister, Lorene (William) Gardner of Ashland; one brother, Dean (Doris) Welch of Polk; sister-law, Esther Welch of Polk; Brothers in-law, Dale Gardner of Ashland, and Gilbert Smith of Eclectic, Alabama. In addition to her husband and parents, Ercel was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Louise Smith and Grace Gardner; and one brother, Eugene E. Welch. Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon. Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, with Rev. Robin Craig officiating. Military services will be conducted by Ashland County Joint Veterans.
