Evelyn Harris

May 18, 1923 — December 17, 2017

Evelyn Freda Harris, 94, of Ashland, died Sunday, December 17, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Evelyn was born May 18, 1923 in London, England to Frederick and Eva {Martin} Overton.

She married Gerald Howard Harris on September 4, 1945, who she met during WWII while she was in the British Royal Air Force. After they married, she traveled to the U.S. on the S.S. President Tyler.  Gerald passed away on January 9, 1996.

Evelyn was known for her homemade pies when she worked at the Hayesville Restaurant. She attended at Calvary Baptist Church, Little Flock Church and the Brethren Dickey Church. Evelyn enjoyed cooking, knitting and spending time with her family and friends.

Evelyn will be deeply missed by her children Janet (Bill) Emery and David (Debbie) Harris both of Ashland, Barbara Harris of Mansfield, Diane (Gene) Reynolds and Pat (Dan) Rogers both of Ashland; grandchildren Donald, Daniel, Douglas, David, Deana, Jodi, Juli, Michelle, Matthew, Tonya, Jason, Jaron, Brenan, Brooke and Ben; step grandchildren Scott, Mike, Matt and Casey; 19 great-grandchildren; eleven step great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, two brothers Sydney and George, and a sister-in-law Ann.

Services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, Ashland. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.   Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio at 1050 Dauch Dr, Ashland or Calvary Baptist Church at 210 Davis Rd, Ashland.
