Fred E. Jones, age 86, of Wadsworth, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014.
Born October 28, 1928, in Dukedom, Tennessee, he was the son of Willie Calvin and Effie B. {Raye} Jones. He was an independent farmer in Tennessee until moving to Akron, where he then worked at Goodyear Aerospace until he retired in 1991. Fred enjoyed many hobbies as well as hunting and fishing. He was also active with the Goodyear baseball and basketball teams for many years.
Married almost 69 years to his devoted wife, Muriel {Mathis, he was the father of Freddie R. (Dorothy) Jones of Wadsworth, Dr. Edna Jones (Valerie McGuire) of Westerville, Ohio, and Connie (Mark) Ralston of Wadsworth. He was a proud grandfather of Andrew Ralston of Wadsworth, Ashleigh (Pete) Alexander of Mogadore, Avery Ralston of Wadsworth, and Christopher Jones of Westerville. He also has one great-granddaughter, Carleigh Anna Alexander of Mogadore. Fred has two brothers, Charlie Jones of Mayfield, Kentucky and James Jones (deceased) and two sisters Oveda Alderdice of Sedalia, Kentucky and Mary Ellen Jones (deceased).
Friends may call on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 5-7pm at Roberts Funeral Home-Hillcrest Chapel, in Seville. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 1pm at the funeral home with Tim Ramsier officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, from 12-1pm. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Apostolic Christian Home, 10680 Steiner Road, Rittman, OH 44270 or Hospice of Medina County, 5075 Windfall Road, Medina, Ohio 44256.
