Frederick "Fred" Phillips

Frederick “Fred” Phillips, 95, of Wooster, died Saturday, August 3, 2024 at West View Healthy Living.

Fred was born December 18, 1928 in Colton, WV to Gordon and Virginia {Sachs} Phillips.

He served in the National Guard for 2 years.

He married Christine Vance in 1951. She died October 11, 2012.

Fred worked for Rubbermaid before retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Marshallville Baptist Church where he served as the song director. He volunteered at West View for many years where he played the guitar.

Fred will be deeply missed by sons Robert (Cheryl) Phillips of Orrville, Stephen (Carol) Phillips of Huron; multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren; half-sisters Hazel, Sandra, Sharron, and Barbara.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife, son Louis Phillips, brother Nepoleon Walker Phillips, step-father French Chewning, half-brothers Ted, Bernard, Donald and half-sister Shirlia.

Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster is assisting the family. Services were held at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
