Fred Thomas

Fredrick “Fred” Thomas, 68, of Smithville, died Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Ohio’s LifeCare Hospice in Wooster.

Fred was born September 15, 1954, in Wooster to Virgil and Esther {Horst} Thomas. He graduated from Waynedale High School in 1973.

He married Cindy Weaver on May 31, 1975. She survives.

Fred worked for Frontz Drilling and Collier Well for many years. He then owned his own company Thomas Repair Service in Smithville. Fred loved going to Dragway 42 and Norwalk Raceway Park with his three grandsons. He enjoyed antiques, going to car shows to look at the antique cars, doing mechanical work, and watching his grandchildren’s sporting activities. Fred was a prankster and liked to pick on his family and friends. He loved spending time watching SpongeBob SquarePants with his granddaughter.

Fred will be deeply missed by his wife of 47 years, Cindy; children Tonya (Ryan) Miller and Chad (Molly) Thomas all of Wooster; his grandchildren Brenagan, Jake, Zack, and Esmae “Snickelfritz”; brothers Jon (Cindy) Thomas of Canton and Kenneth (MaryEllen) Thomas of Wooster; mother-in-law Bette Weaver of Smithville; in-laws Steve (Ruth) Weaver of Wooster, Rick (Mary) Weaver of Orrville, Randy (Candy) Weaver of Holmesville, Robin (Lewis) Marks of Concord, NC; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, twin sister Joyce Christopher, brother Leroy Thomas, and a niece Joellen Thomas Cooke.

Friends may call Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster.  Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ben Robinson officiating.  Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
