Fredrick Allen Berquist, 88, of Marietta, died Thursday, October 3, 2019 at his home.
Fred was born April 5, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska to Fredrick Oscar and Mary {Stears} Berquist.
He graduated from Montana State University.
Fred retired from the United States Air Force after 32 years in 1978.
Following his time in the service he worked for the City of Marietta Health Department, and then worked for the state unemployment office where he assisted veterans. He was involved with the Grey Eagles and the DAV. Fred was a hero, who would lead you in the right direction and would immediately turn you around if needed. When Fred Berquist spoke, everyone listened.
Fred will be deeply missed by his children Mike Berquist, Tina (Jerry) Taylor, Jeff (Susan) Berquist, Joan (Ernie) Farrar, Don (Kim) Peters, Jerry Peters, Judi (Doug) Goodall; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bettye Faye Berquist, his second wife Barbara Jean Berquist, and his sisters Betty Harper and Pat.
Friends may call Wednesday, October 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-East Lawn Chapel, 27880 St. Rt. 7, Marietta. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Ernie Farrar officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park, where military rites will be held.
