Fredrick Semon

October 17, 1945 — October 3, 2017

Fredrick “Fred” William Semon, 71, of Marietta, passed away October 3, 2017 at Marietta Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born October 17, 1945 in Columbus, Ohio to the late John and Frances {Jahn} Semon.

He married the love of his life Patricia Briggs on July 25, 1970 at the Harmar Hill Church of Christ. Together they have one daughter.

He graduated from Marietta High School in 1964 and served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was a member of the American Legion Post 64 in Marietta. He then took over the family businesses of Semon’s Food Center, Quality Cleaners, Poly Clean Laundromat and Cline’s Laundromat.

He enjoyed boating, scuba diving, building and racing corvettes. He spent his winters in Big Pine Key, Florida and summers and holidays in Marietta, Ohio.

Fredrick will be deeply missed by his wife Patricia; his daughter Ashley (MJ) Metts; mother-in-law Esther Briggs; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sharon {Briggs} and Ken Huckaba.

Private services will be held.  Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fred’s name to Memorial Health Foundation or Amedisys Hospice. The family would like to thank all of the nurses, doctors and staff that cared for Fred during his hospital stay and hospice care at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
