Garry Alan Baker, 59, of Marietta Ohio passed away Friday, July 19th, 2024, with his loving family by his side.
Garry was the middle child of the infamous “Baker Boys” always running around with his two built in best friends, his brothers Steve and Scott “Scooter”. They grew up in Navy housing traveling all over the country living in, Virginia Beach, VA, Beckley, WV, CA, eventually returning to Marietta, OH. He worked on his family’s farm until he became a 30 year member of Local 639 Laborers Union, providing the comedic relief on the job to get through the long work days.
Garry loved music, always pulling in the driveway with the speakers in his Chevy S-10 or Jeep turned all the way up and bobbing his head to the beat. He shared his love of music with his nephew and his daughter, it was a special connection they had together. He loved family beach trips for the many nights of seafood dinners, any food buffet, and melting Kraft singles all over his dinner leftovers when he would go back for seconds in the middle of the night. He enjoyed fishing and deer hunting, often telling stories of the deer that ran right in front of him and got away.
The porch was his favorite place to hang out with his friends and family, that’s where he would spend hours watching YouTube on his tablet and keeping up with the weather so everyone around him knew when the best time to travel would be.
Garry had a heart of gold, he could light up any room he walked into and put a smile on everyone’s face with the best jokes and funny faces.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, William “Bill” & Roberta Baker. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Dodie Baker and daughter Kristin Baker - Fauber (Christian), Stepson Kris Brannan, and granddaughter Kara Quinn Summers (Jay). His brothers Steven (Pamela) Baker and Scott “Scooter” (Tammy) Baker. As well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and loved friends that felt more like family.
A special recognition of Charlie & Paula Rankin and the long friendship he cherished with them greatly.
Garry will be missed tremendously by everyone that knew him.
The family would like to say a special thank you to all the transport EMS, first responders, and the nurses that helped Garry and his family. A Memorial Service will be held later this year in the fall for Family and Friends.
