George Louis Duell, 83, of Dalton, died Monday, July 14, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family, after a period of declining health.
Friends may call Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice at 16600 Sprague Road, Cleveland, OH 44130.
George was born September 27, 1930 in Thorp, Wisconsin to George W. and Nina {Tripp} Duell.
He married Alice J. Jones on September 27, 1957. George served in the United States Army for 7 years during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was assistant fire chief for the Wooster Township Fire Department for over 10 years. George was employed as a Maintenance Supervisor at OARDC / OSU for 25 years, retiring in 1988. After retiring, he enjoyed working for Questel Electric, where he did the electrical work every year for the Wayne County Fair.
George will be deeply missed by his wife, Alice, of 56 years; daughters Elizabeth (Jody) Gerber of Dalton and Jean (Bruce) Houston of Lodi; grandchildren George E. (Steph) Duell, Tony (Angie) Kirk and Ashley Kirk; great-grandchildren Logan and Tessa Duell, Jonathan, Brooke, Kayla, Beth, Zachery and Andrew.
George was preceded in death by his brother Allen Duell.
