George A. Giauque, 93, of Marion, formerly of Wooster, died Friday, January 12th, at home surrounded by his family.
George was born January 9, 1925 in Holmes County to Clarence and L. Bata (Shaffer) Giauque. He married the love of his life, Sylvia Singer, on October 25, 1947 in Greenup, Kentucky. Sadly, she passed away in February 2006. During World War II George served in Calcutta, India sending supplies to soldiers on the Burma Road .He worked at Timkens for more than 30 years. After moving to Marion, George enjoyed delivering cars for McDaniel Motors. .
He was a founding member of West Hill Baptist Church and was a deacon their for many years. In Marion, he was a member of the Berean Baptist Church. George also was a member of the Ebeneezer Lodge #33 in Wooster. George always enjoyed traveling, visiting his three grandchildren, woodworking, and working in his yard.
George is survived by daughters Sharon (Charles) Russell and Carol Jean (David) Lewis, all of Marion; three grandchildren, Krissy Lewis of Evergreen, Colorado, Angie (Aaron) Smallwood of Irving, Texas, and Jason (Heather) Russell of Westerville; and his special great-grandson, Brayden Smallwood; and sisters Dema Money, Burgetta Schie, and brother, Dean Giauque. He was preceded in death by sisters, Mary and Pauline, and brothers, J. McClellan, Wilford, and Clarence Jr.
Services will be held Friday, January 19 at 3:00pm at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, 7067 Cleveland Rd., Wooster, with the Rev. Pat Street officiating. Calling hours will be observed at 2:00pm prior to the funeral. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. On line tributes may be made at www.robertsfuneralhome. Com.
