George E. Maxwell, 84, of Wooster, previously of Burbank, went home to be with the Lord Monday, November 23, 2015 at LifeCare Hospice.
Friends may call Friday, November 27, 2015, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Father Steven Moran officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd. Wooster, OH 44691 and the Alzheimer's Association, 23215 Commerce Park #300 Beachwood, OH 44122.
George was born February 21, 1931 at home in Golden Corners, Ohio to Grover and Marian {Ewing} Maxwell.
He attended Burbank School. George served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954.
He married Janet on February 24, 1951.
George retired from Rubbermaid after 41 years. He attended St. Mary's Church. Before he moved to Wooster he attended St. Stephen's church in West Salem. George loved to golf, seeing the country with his wife and spending time with his children, grandkids and great-granddaughter.
George will be deeply missed by his wife of 64 years; children Bonnie (Leo) Thompson of West Salem, Gary (Michelle) Maxwell of Burbank, Julie (Bill) Yoder of Apple Creek, Ron (Lorie) Maxwell of Burbank and Don (Cathy) Maxwell of West Salem; grandchildren Dennis (Melissa) Brinker, Brandi (Rick) Sanchez, Brooke (Ken) Yoder, Danielle (Rick) Maxwell, Amanda (Daniel) Maxwell, Garrison Maxwell, Tyler Maxwell, Brandi Troyer, Will Morehouse and Emma Morehouse; great-grandkids Elia Sanchez, Peyton, Ethan, Ella, Anna, Penelope and Julian; sisters Norma Buckingham of Burbank, Carolyn Leedy of Wooster and Mary Brenneman of Burbank.
George was preceded in death by his bothers Charles, Bill and Richard Maxwell and sisters Ellen Stull and Janice Buckingham.
The Family would like to thank Dr. Stallings, Dr. Bonezzi, Elaine, the caregivers at Westview Healthy Living, Wooster Community Hospital, LifeCare Hospice and all of the special caregivers for their wonderful care and support.
