George Edwin Stanford, 80, of North Lawrence, Ohio, died Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Shady Lawn Nursing & Rehabilitation, in Dalton.
Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster is handling the arrangements.
George was born June 5, 1933 in North Lawrence, Ohio to George Robert and Wilda {Herbst} Stanford.
He spent four years active duty in the United States Coast Guard aboard the CGC White Sumac, where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. George was extremely proud of his Coast Guard days and spoke of it frequently.
Upon Honorable Discharge from the Coast Guard, George went on to a successful career at Ecodyne MRM Inc. with over 35 years of loyal service. He was a member of United Methodist Church in North Lawrence and enjoyed spending his time at numerous clubs such as the VFW, Sons of Herman, American Legion and many others. George also enjoyed gardening and taking care of the family farm, as well as trips to the local casino. He really enjoyed a relaxing retirement.
George will be deeply missed by his surviving son Duane Stanford of North Lawrence and son-in-law Marc. A. Kaleel of Vermilion.
George was preceded in death by his father George and mother Wilda, brothers Robert and William, and his darling daughter Rhonda {Stanford} Kaleel.
