Gerald W. "RoHo" McBride, 84, of Millersburg, died Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the Holmes County Home, in Holmesville.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster with Preacher Gene Lilly officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Holmes County Home, 7260 State Route 83, Holmesville, OH 44633.
Gerald was born July 15, 1932 in Sebring, Ohio to Harold W. and Enid D. {Boardman} McBride.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954.
Gerald married Bertha M. Smith in El Paso, TX on November 1, 1969. She died January 8, 2015.
He worked most of his life in the oil fields and also for Menuez Bros. Sand and Gravel in Millersburg. Gerald was a member of the Holmesville Church of Christ. He was a member of Cornerstone, American Legion Post 192 in Millersburg and VFW #7079 in Killbuck. Gerald enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. Anyone who knew Jerry was going to hear a Texas story.
Gerald will be deeply missed by children Richard (Suzie) Watson of Millersburg, Barbara (George) Dawson of Nashville, OH, Lois (James) Strouse of Millersburg; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; brother Robert E. McBride of San Diego, CA; sisters Janet Richey of Albuquerque, NM, Deloris McClellan of Sebring, OH, Mary L. Gindlesberger of Millersburg.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years and son Harold "Buster" McBride grandson Dustin McBride, step-sons Albert and Arthur Watson and three brothers-in-law.
The family wants to thank the Holmes County Home and Hospice for their tender loving care that Gerald received during his stay.
