Harold W. Hawk, 90, of Wooster, died Tuesday, June 7 at Glendora Health Care Center, in Wooster.
Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the St James Church at Crossroads with Rev. William C. Andrick officiating. Burial will be at Union Lawn Cemetery in Navarre, where military rites will be held. Harold was born April 8, 1926 in Brewster to Clarence and Mary {Rudy} Hawk.
He served in the United States Army during WWII. Following the war, Harold married Melva Mae Hindley on August 15, 1948. She survives.
He worked for the Griscom Russel Company for 12 years, and then ran a barber shop in Massillon for a number of years, he then worked for Wooster Brush Company for 22 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. James Church of Christ, the VFW, American Legion, Ebenezer Lodge # 33, Wooster Chapter #27, Wooster Council #13, Eastern Star #324, and was a 32nd degree Mason with the Scottish Rite. He was member of the Brewster Historical Society and the Brewster Anglers Club. Harold was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing, dancing, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Melva, Harold will be deeply missed by his daughter Nancy Phillips of Smithville; grandchildren Patrick Horner of Smithville and Randy (Robin) Horner of Wooster; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; sister-in-law Jean Hawk of Dalton and several nieces and nephews.
Harold was preceded in death by his sister Vera Myers, brother Ernest Hawk.
